The Fundamental Rights petition filed by People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL), seeking an order to hold the local government elections to elect representatives, was heard at the Supreme Court yesterday (03) .
The Fundamental Rights petition filed by People’s Action for Free and Fair Elections (PAFFREL), seeking an order to hold the local government elections to elect representatives, was heard at the Supreme Court yesterday (03) .
The petition filed by PAFFREL Executive Director, Rohana Hettiarachchie , was summoned by the three-judge bench comprising Nalin Perera, Priyasad Depp and Upali Abeyrathne.
The petition will be hear on the 30th January 2017 and the panel of judges ordered the respondents to file the objections within four weeks time.
The petition cited the Minister of Provincial Councils and Local Government Faiszer Musthapha , Secretary to the Ministry of Provincial Councils and Local Government, Legal draftsman, Elections Commission , delimitation committee and eleven in total as the respondents.
