A Training Course from PAFFREL for Youth

The PAFFREL recently launched a training course aimed at creating a responsible and knowledgeable community of youth.

This is a six month course conducted in both Sinhala and Tamil languages. 200 youths have been selected covering the entire island and the course is scheduled to make them more aware of the rules and regulations required for their daily lives.

The purpose of this course would be to provide a broad understanding on electoral rules and procedures, revision of the electoral list, human rights, environmental protection, anti-bribery and anti-corruption laws and democratic rights, and to encourage the participants make full use of the knowledge they gain practically, in approaching problematic social situations.

Experienced resource persons would be involved in this training course and the participants who successfully complete the course will be awarded a valuable certificate.

The first session of the Tamil Media Workshop was held on the 12th with the sponsorship (resources) of Mr. M.M Mohamed, the Commissioner of the Election Commission.

Franklin D. Roosevelt, a former President of the United States once said that we cannot always build the future for our youth, but we can build our youth for the future.
