Historic Elections in Myanmar will be observed by representatives of Sri Lanka’s Civil Society Organization.

Historic Elections in Myanmar will be observed by representatives of   Sri Lanka’s Civil Society Organization. Observers from Peoples Action for Free and Fair Election (PAFFREL) are contributing to the Election Observation Mission in Myanmar conducted by the Asian Network for Free Elections (ANFREL). They joined as part of a team of observers from across Asia that on October 12th deployed to the field to begin observing the pre-election period.

The ANFREL Election Observation Mission (EOM) objective is to strengthen Myanmar’s democratic processes by enhancing the integrity of the electoral process and the accountability of electoral stakeholders. To support these goals, ANFREL has chosen observers coming largely from the independent civil society groups and citizen monitoring organizations that make up its network across Asia. In total, ANFREL’s observers hail from 18 different countries.
